Airfield Models (http://www.airfieldmodels.com/)Modern Military Vehicle Reference Photographs

While I was in the service most of my assignments were to field units.  I had the opportunity to travel and was also deployed a few times.  This gave me a lot of opportunities to take photos that I would otherwise not have been able to.

One thing I have noticed while surfing the web is that the word "realistic" is often thrown around casually.  The weathering I have seen on some models is anything but realistic.  I am not knocking anyone's work because I can appreciate their efforts and the hours involved in their craft.

I think the culprit is lack of exposure to the real thing rather than poor technique on the part of the builder.  Hopefully a close study of these images will reveal what real wear and tear looks like on a military vehicle.
